파리에 체류하고 있는 작곡가 피터 보로프를 송환하기 위해 비빈스키, 브란코프, 이바노프가 파리에 파견된다.
영화음악을 맡기로 캔필드와 계약한 보로프는 끌려가지 않으려 발버둥치고, 캔필드는 보로프의 아버지가 프랑스인이라고 거짓말을 하고, 그들까지 붙잡아둔다.
일이 이렇게 되자 소련에서는 사상이 투철한 요셍코를 특파사절로 파견하나 캔필드와 사랑에 빠진 요셍코는 하루가 다르게 변해가고, 영화 시사회 날, 둘은 결혼을 약속하게 된다.
