어느 저택의 주인으로 보이는 의문의 남자가 초자연 현상을 연구하는 두 남자 잭(마이클 콜티스)과 조나단(폴 플래너리)을 집으로 불러들인다.
남자의 제안은 그 집을 나가지 않고 36시간을 보내면 각자에게 선금 2만5천 달러를 포함해 5만 달러를 주겠다는 것.
남자의 제안을 받아들인 잭과 조나단은 휴대전화와 자동차 열쇠를 그에게 넘겨준 채 그 집에서 사흘을 보낼 채비를 한다.
잭과 조나단은 모두 초자연 현상을 연구하긴 하지만 잭은 대부분이 사기라고 생각하는 냉소주의자고 조나단은 가벼운 성격을 가진 심령술사다.
두 사람의 동거는 일면 물과 기름 같지만 곧 협력만이 살 길이라는 사실이 드러난다.
그 집은 이사 오는 가족마다 죽어서 나가는 100년의 미스터리가 쌓인 곳이다.
